St. Norbert Priory, Mumbai

St_Norbert_Priory_MumbaiThe Norbertine Community in Mumbai Archdiocese was founded in the year 1964. The Dutch Norbertine Missionary Fathers, J. Lamers, and Luke Van, O. Praem, together with Indian Norbertine A. Prakash started this mission on May 1, 1967. Their mission was to take care of Pastoral, Educational and Social needs of this place. Because of their commitment to the mission and vision, this community has been alike to do Christian service to the marginalized people in Mumbai, particularly in Bandra East. God has blessed this vibrant and dedicated community to extend their services through its Parish School and Social Welfare Centres over the years. Their ardent and tireless effort with God’s Grace helped them to open another Parish and social service Centre at Navi Mumbai in the year 1992. And a Priests home at Manglore diocese in the year 2010.

March from the marshes is perhaps an apt phrase that can be attributed to the long and arduous journey, which began in Bandra East about four decades ago. Today with the journey still on, we have triumphed over the odds and have in our possession, six shining jewels, which are landmarks, three in Bandra East, Mumbai and two in Nerul, Navi Mumbai and one in Manglore. The custodian of these prized jewels is Mumbai Dependent House, Bandra East, managed by the Norbertine Fathers in the true spirit of our beloved founding father, St. Norbert The Shining jewels are as follows:

  1. St. Joseph the Worker Church, Ali Yavar Jung Marg, Bandra East, Mumbai.
  2. Our Lady of Visitation Church, MMVK, Sector 48, Nerul, Navi Mumbai

  1. Cardinal Gracious High School, Bandra East, Mumabi
