SEMBATTU MISSION was taken care by the Jesuits from Madurai Province since 1904 and in 1935, the diocese of Trichy took over this Mission to take care of the spiritual and education needs of this place. In 1977, at the invitation of then, the Bishop of Trichy, Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Fernando, our dedicated confreres Rev.Fr. Prakash, O. Praem and Rev. Bro. Amalraj, O. Praem took over this Mission to start a new Foundation of the Norbertine Community in Tamil Nadu. Though their foundation, the community has been blessed with greater service to the marginalized people at Sembattu, Kamaraj Nagar, K.K. Nagar, Mathur (Trichy Diocese) and Thiruvetriyur (Sivagangai diocese). God has blessed this vibrant community to serve the people through Schools, social welfare centers and parishes. The Missie-Procuur Team in Holland is the backbone of our ministry through their financial support. This community has been nurtured by many Abbots in Holland and in India to have a Norbertine way of life with Vision and Mission.
Holy Trinity Church is one of the oldest Missions in the Diocese of Trichy. This became a separate parish from 1977 when taken over by the Norbertine Fathers. She has two main sub-stations. The Catholic population is 1,000 families. Most of the people work in the tanneries, farms, schools, offices and small scale of Industries. The Economical condition of the people is very poor. Some are in the middle-income group. The spiritual quest among the people is very rich.
