Indara is situated in the Eastern part of Utter Pradesh. It comes under the Diocese of Varanasi. Indara Mission station was established by Franciscan Missionary brothers at Kopaganj in 1947 and then it was shifted near to Indara Railway Station in 1949. Franciscan Missionary Bro. Otto will always be remembered for his work. Church was built and blessed on April 8th 1964. The church was dedicated to St. Gonzalo Gracia Martyr. The Diocesan Priests worked here till 1980 and the Mission was entrusted to the Norbertine Fathers in 1980. The Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles opened their Convent in July 1982 to help out in the hospital and the School. Before coming to Indara, Norbertine Fathers had worked in other two Missions namely; Baijalpur and Ratsar for 12 years.

At present the Indara Dependent house consists of 9 members.

Mirpur
It was a sub- station of Indara for a long time. Ursuline Franciscan sisters of Mangalore opened a house in 1977. The Parish was entrusted to the Norbertine Fathers in 1983. The numbers of Catholics are about 500.

It was a part of Indara Parish and its spiritual needs were looked after by Indara parish. With the initiation of Patrick D’Souza, Bishop of Varanasi and the Norbertine Fathers the mission station was inaugurated on Jan. 24, 1999. Norbertine Fathers are looking after following Parish and School.
